Member of the Year - St. Louis Chapter

The Rose M. Tettenhorst Member of the Year Award was established to recognize a member of St. Louis Chapter who has worked diligently throughout the year for the good of the chapter, without necessarily having held office, and who unselfishly gives time and dedication toward the betterment of the Chapter. The Rose M. Tettenhorst Recipient is always a member who can be depended on when asked to do any task to aid the chapter no matter how large or small. Because of the high ideals and standards of purpose surrounding this award, all recipients are members of the Association for at least three years and have served the chapter in various capacities, even during the beginning years of their membership.

2011-2012 Member of the Year

Lynette Sona, CAP, joined IAAP in 1980, and in the past few years she has been very active in the chapter. She has held the offices of president, president-elect and the office of vice president twice. During the 2010-11 year she chaired the Certification Programs Committee and made sure the test site was supported in November and May, providing survival kits. She also served on several committees, not in name only but she jumping right in by offering great ideas, working with her “crafts” talent and any other way in which she could offer support. Her input is most valuable, and her desire to help is a great asset to our chapter.

Lynette is a very caring member, looking for those “lost” guests or members who don’t seem to have anyone to guide them or talk to them. She understands how much personal recognition can mean to someone who needs a little “pick-me-up” at the end of a long day. This was by no means easy for Lynette to get out of her comfort zone by speaking to people, but she knew she wouldn’t grow personally and professionally without getting out of that comfortable box. She writes down the names of people she sits with at chapter meetings so she would remember to say hello to them at the next meeting. Her work on the chapter display table set the bar for others to follow.

Lynette’s participation in these activities and her support of St. Louis Chapter IAAP shows her dedication to both the local chapter and the organization. She is truly a first class representative and a great active member, whether in the forefront or behind the scenes.
